Soykırım yalnızca bombalarla gerçekleşmez. En görünmez, en sürdürülebilir ve en inkâr edilebilir haliyle aç bırakarak da yürütülür. Bu eser, şiddetin patlama anında değil, bekleyiş içinde örülen yavaş ölüm rejiminde nasıl işlediğini görünür kılar.
Bombalar bedeni parçalar; açlık ise zamanı. Aç bırakma pratiği, yalnızca yaşamı tehdit etmez, yaşamın devam ihtimalini sistemli biçimde ortadan kaldırır. Burada ölüm ani değildir; uzatılır, geciktirilir, sıradanlaştırılır. Bu nedenle açlık, modern soykırımın en steril ve en az tanıklık edilen silahıdır.
Bu sergide karşılaştığımız şey, yoksulluk değildir. Yoksulluk hâlâ bir iyileşme ihtimali taşır. Burada sergilenen, bilinçli olarak örgütlenmiş bir yokluk sistemidir. Gıdanın dolaşımdan çekilmesi, suyun kesilmesi, yaşamın yeniden üretim kanallarının tıkanması; hepsi aynı imha matematiğinin parçalarıdır. Soykırım, yalnızca öldürmez.
Besleyememeyi, koruyamamayı ve yaşatamamayı zorunlu hale getirir. Bu nedenle açlık, yalnızca fiziksel bir çöküş değil; etik, toplumsal ve kuşaklar arası bir kırılmadır. Eser, izleyiciyi bir patlamanın şokuyla değil; kaynamayan tencerenin sessizliğiyle yüzleştirir. Burada suç, gürültü üretmez. Tam tersine, sessizlik içinde yayılır. Açlık bağırmaz; ama bütün bedende yankılanır.
Genocide is not carried out only through bombs. In its most invisible, most sustainable, and most deniable form, it is also executed through starvation. This work makes visible how violence operates not in the moment of explosion, but within a regime of slow death woven through waiting. Bombs shatter the body; hunger shatters time. The practice of starvation threatens not only life itself, but systematically eliminates the very possibility of life’s continuation. Death here is not sudden; it is prolonged, delayed, normalized. For this reason, hunger is the most sterile and the least witnessed weapon of modern genocide.
What we encounter in this exhibition is not poverty. Poverty still carries the possibility of recovery. What is presented here is a consciously organized system of deprivation. The withdrawal of food from circulation, the cutting of water, the blockage of the channels through which life reproduces itself — all are components of the same calculus of destruction. Genocide does not only kill.
It renders feeding, protecting, and sustaining life impossible. For this reason, hunger is not merely a physical collapse; it is an ethical, social, and intergenerational rupture.
This work confronts the viewer not with the shock of an explosion, but with the silence of a pot that never boils. Here, the crime does not produce noise. On the contrary, it spreads through silence. Hunger does not scream — yet it echoes throughout the entire body.
