Bugün, Filistin’de yaşanan trajedi, bu mağaranın en somut örneklerinden biridir. Gerçeklerin çarpıtıldığı, hakikatin susturulduğu, acının ve direnişin gölgeler ardına saklandığı bir savaşın içindeyiz. Tarih boyunca savaş, yalnızca cephelerde değil, zihinlerde de sürdürülmüştür. İktidarlar ve medya, savaşın haklılığını kanıtlamak, işgali meşrulaştırmak ve direnişi bastırmak için gölgeler yaratır. We are those who dare to separate truth from shadows. This exhibition is a call to question the reality hidden behind war and the illusions it produces. Inspired by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, the illusions created by war, the chains of propaganda, and the individual struggle for liberation are reinterpreted through the language of art.
Today, the tragedy unfolding in Palestine stands as one of the most tangible manifestations of this cave. We are witnessing a war in which facts are distorted, truth is silenced, and pain and resistance are concealed behind shadows.
Throughout history, war has never been waged solely on battlefields, but also within minds. Power structures and media fabricate shadows to justify war, legitimize occupation, and suppress resistance. Major media outlets anesthetize the global conscience by constructing narratives that turn the victim into the culprit. Yet truth persists, no matter how forcefully it is suppressed. Jean-Paul Sartre reminds us that for human beings to become free, they must first become aware.
“Only the Names Change” speaks not only of the destruction of war, but also of the power of resistance, hope, and truth. The time has come to stop mistaking the shadows presented to us for reality. The struggle of the Palestinian people is not theirs alone; it is a test for all humanity. Liberation begins with seeing the truth. And art is the most powerful way to open our eyes.
